Garden Apprentice
at our location Ross-on-Wye | fulltime
Your Tasks:
You will take part in a comprehensive 24-month apprenticeship within a small team in our established Estate gardens at the Hill Court Estate, where you will gain hands-on experience in a range of horticultural activities including propagation, pruning and renovating herbaceous beds; along with general maintenance. Additionally, you will be involved in the planning of new themes in the gardens and also trained in the use of garden machinery, pond and aquatic plant management and species specific pruning.
During your apprenticeship, you will attend Pershore College on block release to achieve your Level 2 Equivalent Work Based Diploma in Horticulture and you will receive two-monthly workplace visits from a Monitoring Officer. If successful in your apprenticeship, we will discuss potential further career and development opportunities for you including permanent employment.
Working hours will be Monday to Thursday 7am to 3:30pm and Friday 7am to 2:30pm.
Wage - £8.00 per hour. 39 hours per week.
Your Profile:
Educated to GCSE level 3 or equivalent in Maths and English, you will be self-motivated with a good work ethic and comfortable working proactively in all weathers and without supervision where appropriate. You will be conscientious, imaginative and passionate; and eager to learn Horticulture.
Candidates must be able to travel to Pershore College and able to start the apprenticeship in October.
